THE ROLE:
A hands-on leader who drives the design, architecture, and delivery of enterprise-grade applications and systems. This role combines deep technical expertise with leadership—architecting, designing, and developing scalable backend services, secure APIs, modern front-end applications, and containerized cloud infrastructure. As a working manager, this individual leads by example, guiding teams to deliver robust, secure, and data-driven solutions while ensuring projects stay on track, systems perform reliably, and technology decisions align with business goals.
HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:
• Serve as a working manager, actively contributing to architectural designs, coding, and delivery while leading and mentoring the team.
• Plan, prioritize, and track work to ensure timely delivery of high-quality, scalable systems.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, creating decks and presentations to communicate strategy, progress, and results.
• Drive data-informed decision-making through analytics tracking, A/B testing, and user behavior analysis.
• Build and maintain resilient, scalable, and secure systems, implementing monitoring, alerts, and performance optimizations.
• Administer platforms, monitor budgets, and manage technical operations to ensure cost-efficient, reliable performance.
• Foster team culture by coaching, developing, and training others, promoting innovation and accountability.
• Evaluate and propose new technologies including AI integrations to improve scalability, automation, and user experience.
• Oversee code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement of engineering standards and practices.
• Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises engineering team members; responsible for performance management, career development, and fostering a collaborative culture.
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
• Hands-on expertise in Python, PostgreSQL, and modern backend development (Node.js, Java, or equivalent).
• Proven ability to architect, design, and deliver scalable and resilient systems.
• Strong skills in analytics tracking, A/B testing, and data-driven decision making.
• Experience evaluating and implementing new and emerging technologies, including AI.
• Excellent stakeholder communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Strong leadership, prioritization, and organizational abilities.
• Experience with platform administration, monitoring, and budget management.
Experience:
• 7+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years in a lead or managerial capacity.
• Proven record of delivering production-grade, scalable systems and managing engineering teams.
• Demonstrated ability to balance technical execution with strategic leadership.
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
