THE ROLE:
The Herbalife Sports Performance Dietitian will assist in the implementation and management of the nutrition program, care, and wellness of selected professional and/or sponsored athletes to promote recovery, enhance performance, and develop the nutritional literacy.
HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:
• Conduct athlete nutrition consultations- including initial (pre-season) and follow-up with assigned team (First, Second, or Academy)
• Effectively communicate players' nutrition needs, supplement recommendations, recovery strategies, etc. Develop athlete travel strategies
• Oversee supplementation and recovery nutrition following all governing bodies banned substance rules
• Monitor athlete hydration and measure and track body composition. Document all data collected
• Provide expert nutrition opinion to appropriate medical and coaching staff as needed
• Oversee appropriate usage of Herbalife product.
• Participate in Herbalife events as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
• Excellent communication, presentation, and counseling skills
• Ability to accurately measure height, and body weight
• Ability to accurately assess body composition (body mass, body fat, and muscle mass)
• Ability to accurately assess and evaluate energy balance
• Self-motivation and ability to work independently
• Excellent time management, organizational, and record-keeping skills
• Competence with nutrient analysis, word processing, and presentation software
• Compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)
• Knowledge of rules and regulations of athletic governing bodies: e.g., National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), regarding banned drugs and restricted substances
• Knowledge of measurements of resting metabolic rate, energy expenditure, VO2max, and lactate threshold
• Ability to communicate information & excite enthusiasm/instill credibility about our products & health with the athletes.
• Strong customer and results orientation
• Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to work weekends and after hours on occasion
Experience:
• 1-2 years demonstrated experience in nutrition counseling, preferably with an emphasis on
sports nutrition
Education
• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist through Commision on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
