Overview

THE ROLE:

The Manager, Counsel (Employment) position is an attorney position that will focus on employment litigation and providing related legal advice and counseling. This position will join a team of highly collaborative legal professionals who have a passion for tackling challenging legal problems in a fast-paced business environment and who embrace a can-do attitude and desire for continuous learning.

 

HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE: 
•    Assist with employment litigation (including working with outside counsel and vendors as needed)
•    Assist with internal and external employee investigations (e.g., responding to EEOC, OSHA, DOL charges)
•    Assist with records requests (including, among other things, advising on responding to subpoenas and garnishments)
•    Advise business units on potential employment-related legal risks
•    Assist with special projects and initiatives with cross-functional teams as needed
•    Perform additional duties as assigned

The Legal department handles all legal matters on behalf of the Company. Our mission is to be an innovative and trusted legal partner that works proactively to identify practical solutions to help protect the Company and its core values. Our legal professionals have expertise in a variety of subject areas, and sit in offices around the globe, with a corporate team based in Los Angeles.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
•    This position has no supervisory responsibilities at present
 

Qualifications

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL: 
•    Minimum 2 years of litigation experience as an attorney in a top-tier law firm, with direct employment law experience preferred
•    Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
•    Strong legal research and analytical skills 
•    Exceptional professional judgment, with ability to handle sensitive information with care
•    Excellent project management skills, with an ability to work independently and proactively
•    Highly collaborative, with ability to work well with many different business groups and teams
•    Ability to travel periodically as needed
•    Experience working in a global company and regulated industry (such as direct sales) a plus

 

Education
•    Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
•    Licensed to practice in the U.S. (active and in good standing)
